Neuromodulation

Neuromodulation is a medical approach that alters nerve activity by delivering electrical or chemical stimulation to specific parts of the nervous system. The goal is to restore normal function or reduce symptoms such as pain, movement disorders, or organ dysfunction, often when conventional treatments haven’t worked.

I offer following therapies for various chronic pain conditions-

  • Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS): Electrodes placed near the spinal cord to reduce chronic pain (e.g., back or leg pain, Neck and arm pain, CRPS, Pelvic and abdominal pain etc).
  • Dorsal Root ganglion stimulator: Electrodes are placed close to the dorsal root ganglion relevant to the specific painful condition. Through low-frequency electrical stimulation, sensory nerves are modulated to reduce pain in that focal area.

This treatment is indicated for back pain, chronic pancreatitis, and pelvic or groin pain. It has been shown to be particularly effective when offered early in cases of complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS).

  • Multifidus stimulator: Electrodes are placed outside the spinal cord, over the L3 transverse process, close to the L2 dorsal root medial branch, with the aim of eliciting contraction of the multifidus muscle and restoring its function. This helps improve spinal stability and results in a reduction in mechanical chronic back pain.
